I'm moving with one other person, 2 dogs and 2 cats. We have a Honda hatchback that we'll be driving anyway since we have all the animals. But how do we take our stuff with us? We're moving on a budget, we're only taking boxes of books, photos, and clothes - no furniture. What would be best?
- rent a u-haul type truck and one of us follows the car or vice versa
- rent a u-haul and tow the car
- buy a beat up cargo van just for the trip, then sell it
- rent a cargo van or pick-up from a car rental place
- load our stuff in the trailer of a freight company and let them drive it, hope the timing works out

I live in an an apartment complex, and my Dad's car was parked on the street. One of my neighbors were moving and had a Budget Moving Rental truck. Somehow the truck slammed head to head into my Dad's '93 Honda Accord (while they were in the truck.) The hood of the car and the lights were smashed up. They came to my door and told me what happened, and I called the police. Does the insurance co. for the Rental place pay for all of the damage, or do my neighbors pay? How long could getting the money for repairs from the insurance company take?
My Dad is an insured driver, but he has another car. However, I periodically used the damaged car to take my mother . Are they, my neighbors or the rental company, liable for providing my family with a rental car?

My friends and I are going to do a road trip around Europe in a rental car. I'd like to plan our petrol and tolls budget, but not certain what it's like. I've been to viamichelin.com and it seems that some of our road trips will be over 30 euros in tolls. Does this sound about right?

I thought of renting a car at the airport and drive to Lafayette. But to my surprise none of the rental car companies (Enterprise, Alamo, Budget, Hertz, National...) all are closed after 10pm/11pm.

I'm heading to LA with my special someone, and was wondering about a ballpark figure on how much I should prepare. I've gotten a good rental car deal at $130 for the week. We're planning to check out Disney, Universal, Magic Mountain, Hollywood, and maybe go around downtown LA or OC. Any ideas? I'm still scouring the net and craigslist for half-off tickets for the theme parks, was wondering how much I'd need for food, accomodations, parking, and other stuff. I'm beginning to think that I would have to pick 2 out of the 3 theme parks, and just do some sight-seeing on the other days, which would be slightly less expensive (Hollywood Walk of Fame, OC, Rodeo Drive) Packing the trunk with drinks and snacks could also help, and yes, fast-food will always be an option since its affordable and easy to get. I was thinking of scrimping more on the place to stay in since we're going to be out wandering most of the day, and a comfy bed and a clean shower would be the only must-haves (cable TV and a pool won't hurt though). We've both been to LA and around it, but this will be our first time to see all these sights together. Sort of like a honeymoon without getting married yet. We're not uptight, we can live on Snickers, cracker's, and Coke's, we just want to spend an awesome time together,it's a once a year break we do get to focus on us and our relationship. I need to pick-up a mid-size car at Denver, CO Airport on 7/5/07 at noon, and drop it at Portland, OR Airport on 7/19/07 at 6:30 AM.
